RV TORTUGA

The RV Tortuga is a 1981 Mainship 34 Trawler. With its very comfortable flying bridge it is the perfect platform to enjoy private Whale Watching tours as it is great for Cetaceans Research. Mainship Trawlers are are renowned for strength, stability and a comfortable ride with their Downeast Hull design capable of substain the North Eastern Lobster fishing. Refitted as a Research Vessel, with 400 nautical miles range at a cruising speed of 8 knots (MAX 14 knots, maybe...), the RV Tortuga is a great choice to enjoy the beauty of the Channel Islands National Marine Sanctuary.

Up to 6 passengers and 3 crew members can be sleeped comfortably for a smooth ride. With its roomy flybridge and lower deck, a below deck kitchen, and a spacious saloon, there is plenty of room to spare, as well as our restroom can provide fresh water and ensure comfort and privacy in case of necessity.

Powered by a 160 horsepower Perkins T6.354 Turbo Diesel Engine, the navigation is handle using SIMRAD electronics which includes all basic Aids for a safe coastal and open ocean experience.
